Parameters

username

Reddit username, with or without u/ (3-20 characters). Provide exactly one of username or url.

url

Reddit profile URL, e.g. https://www.reddit.com/user/spez (max 500 characters). Provide exactly one of username or url.

Followers as Reddit reports them. Reddit returns 0 for many accounts, including well-known ones, so treat 0 as unknown (null when unavailable)

Frequently asked questions

What happens with a suspended or deleted account?

The request returns 404 not_found, the same as for a username that never existed.

Why is follower_count 0?

It is the number Reddit reports, and Reddit reports 0 for many accounts, including some with plenty of followers. Treat 0 as unknown.

How do I get a user's posts and comments?

Use the User Posts and User Comments endpoints with the same username.

How does pricing work?

You only pay for successful requests. The Reddit User Profile API costs $0.003 per request. There are no monthly fees or commitments. You get 50 free requests per endpoint every month.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. You can sign up and use the free tier (50 requests/endpoint/month) without adding a payment method. You only need to add a card when you want to exceed the free tier.

Are there rate limits?

Yes, there's a concurrency limit of 10 simultaneous requests per endpoint per user. If you need more, just get in touch.
