Frequently asked questions
What can I pass as the url?
A full LinkedIn profile URL (https://www.linkedin.com/in/reidhoffman), the public slug (reidhoffman), or the member URN (ACoAA...). Company, school, job, and post URLs are rejected with a 400 and are not billed.
How are dates returned?
As {"year", "month"} objects, with month null when the profile shows only a year. A current position has end_date null and is_current true.
Are profiles that don't exist billed?
Yes. A lookup for a profile that doesn't exist returns 404 not_found and is billed like a normal request. Invalid URLs are rejected before billing.
How does pricing work?
You only pay for successful requests. The LinkedIn Person Details API costs $0.006 per request. There are no monthly fees or commitments. You get 50 free requests per endpoint every month.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You can sign up and use the free tier (50 requests/endpoint/month) without adding a payment method. You only need to add a card when you want to exceed the free tier.
Are there rate limits?
Yes, there's a concurrency limit of 10 simultaneous requests per endpoint per user. If you need more, just get in touch.
